1.Two Positions Available: Second & Third Cook

Dates: June 20 to September 1 2019 (start date is negotiable)             

Transportation to and from the island will be provided at the beginning and end of the summer. Room and board are included. Wifi is available in common areas at Ojibway… cell reception does not reach us, yet.

 Qualifications: Completion of at least one year in either a hospitality or culinary program. An enjoyment of the outdoors is necessary.

Salary: A per day rate based on experience + an equitable share of the tip fund, paid at the end of the season

Description: This unique opportunity will give the candidates a chance to experience a family dining setting, serving up to 100 guests, at an off-grid lodge on Lake Temagami. There is the opportunity to contribute to menu selection, as well as gain some supervisory experience. The second and third cook will be responsible for assisting the head cook in preparation of three meals a day. Ojibway prides itself on making everything from scratch and serving up hearty/healthy fare to our guests. Baking skills are a necessity as all baked goods (including some bread) are prepared in the Ojibway kitchen. Locally sourced produce, eggs and cheese are available for use as well as garden grown herbs. 

There are laundry facilities on the island and all amenities are available for use by the staff (e.g. swimming areas, canoes, kayaks, paddle boards, tennis courts).

2. Position Available: Cabin/Serving Staff

Dates: Friday June 28th(earlier if available) to Saturday, September 1st, 2019(start date is negotiable) Transportation to and from the island will be provided at the beginning and end of the summer. Room and board are included. Wifi is available in the common areas at Ojibway… cell reception does not reach us, yet.

Qualifications: We will train you! An enjoyment of the outdoors is necessary. A valid Ontario Boater’s card is very helpful.

Description:Duties for Ojibway staff work on a rotational basis… some weeks will be spent cleaning and making over guest cabins, while other weeks you will be serving in the dining room. Cleaning guest cabins, as well as the common areas including the shower house, bathrooms, dining room, and the Ojibway Lodge are all part of the job. There will be other tasks, outside of the regular dutiesto do when it isn’t busy. At the beginning of the season, there will be jobs like raking, grass cutting and collecting downed trees and branches, and painting…there is always something to paint! We do want you to enjoy being on Lake Temagami, which means we try to accomplish the work in the morning to allow you time in the afternoon to enjoy your surroundings.
